New Course – Level 3 Metrology Standard Technician
From November 2018 The MCMT will deliver the Level 3 Metrology Standard Technician. This will be a 36 month programme Part-time delivery. The qualification will be delivered via block weekly off the job training sessions at Centre & Monthly visits to company over 36 months.
This course will enable industry to secure world-class measurement skills to unlock productivity and efficiency gains. Developed by NPL and in conjunction with our technical partners Hexagon this apprenticeship measurement standard has been developed to bridge the skills gap for measurement expertise in the UK – it will enable apprentices gain a more in-depth understanding of measurement and its applications.
Apprentices will learn about understanding measurement units and applications and identifying measurement needs, how to measure accurately and what can cause uncertain results, mathematical techniques, including statistics, data analysis and measurement calculations, how to use measuring instruments and relevant regulations.
Entry Criteria: Due to the level of this qualification learners will either be working within a Metrology Function in a business or will need to have undertaken a base engineering qualification along with achieving at least Grades A-C in Maths before being enrolled.
